Seller has to file any insurance claim with USPS, not you. Not your problem. However, if you want to help the seller out, hold on to the item & packaging in case the USPS wants to inspect it for the claim. I suspect that IF it is inspected, USPS may decide it was inadequately packaged and deny the claim.
