I would say take the first 5 levels ranger. Then take either two levels of druid or three of rogue. Scout and assassin would work well for your concept. I would say wield a longsword and shield, or a greatsword/axe as the horizon walker is about one powerful attack. TWF would never really come up. Distant Strike requires hitting 3 different creatures to get its full effect, and it’s easier to do that with a large range instead of hoping they are clumped up. People also view distant strike as an offensive strike for Melee Rangers, but 10 feet TP isn’t that large of a distance.The horizon walker should consistently use their bonus action almost every turn for the damage added class feature to build effectively. Go half-elf for elven accuracy option. On a side note, unless this is your first time optimizing, I would urge you to intentionally give yourself an Achilles heel or two that shows up occasionally.Horizon Walkers are largely unchanged.
