Never heard of it. Just like anything else it will mean something if you're involved in an actual leadership role like President of VP of Finance, but if you're just a "member," you get a cool certificate to hang on your wall (I have some of them in my cubicle at work because they look fancy), and nothing else (I don't even put them on my resume).
SCLA, honor society, NSLS, are all the same imo. I would join an honor society for your major. Where you have to get a certain major gpa and specific grade in certain classes. Sometimes these societys don't invite and you may have to find them. I am going to be applying to one after I get a mandatory B in my next semester class to qualify.
