I suspect production of this model ceased long before Remington became involved. Model 30AS was also manufactured in 1983 as a Glenfield rifle. Hope this is interesting, if not helpful. By the way, the suggested retail for a Marlin 30AS in 1988 was $277.95. Lucky1, lever30 and Gareth Holland.

The Marlin Model 30A (a Glenfield version of the Model 336) was made from 1973 to 1983. Subtract the first two digits of the serial number from 100 to get year of manufacture. There were 268,905 of the Model 30A's made during the production run. The 336 parts from Numrich arms for those years should be interchangeable.I just purchased a Model 30A and put a William's FP-94-36 on it. It won't adjust low enough to match up with the original front sight. I called William's and was told I need a .570" tall front sight with wide dovetail.
