With our without player summons I can get to Phase 2 of the fight more than half the time but have yet to get close to beating her. I prefer to play bosses with player summons vs. mimic tear but can't win either way.Mimic is good, but I have found that Tiche is a more consistent ally for me. Her debuff is great for keeping Malenia from full healing on you. Until I know what you're running as far as talismans and build, I can't really give you tips on how to beat her because a lot of it boils down to keeping yourself calm and learning her timing.
