All the controls are in the right places, the grip fills the hand nicely and the little touches like an adjustable rear sight, beaver tail grip safety and super-smooth trigger elevate this gun from standard to exquisite. And then there is the idea of shooting it. Some people don't like the 10mm. I'm not one of them.

If the first round out of the mag feeds fine, the extractor is the problem. It has incorrect geometry, too much deflection, too much tension, or all three. In my limited experience I think of Kimber as the Bose of the 1911 world. Good stuff but overpriced for what it actually is because they advertise more. Not saying that there is anything wrong with their guns etc... But they have to pay for that advertising somehow. One of my best shooters is a Ruger SR1911.
