The drive takes not quite an hour. 89A takes you thru the Kaibab Forest and past the turn to the North Rim Grand Canyon. However, in mid October, there's the possibility of snow on that route. The North Rim closes on October 15.With the exception of limited daytime and overnight closures, SR 89A will remain open to traffic. Traffic restrictions using a combination of temporary traffic signals and/or flagging operation will be in place while the improvements are under construction.
