I replaced the stamped dear head birch stocks (which I still have) with some new Walnut checkered stocks I got off of ebay! Now it looks like a 336sc (sporting carbine).They are written up in Brophy's book. The 30 was the earlier version, then Marlin dropped the 30 and went to the 30A. I had one 30, which I sold, and I currently have a 30A. I'd like to have a 30 in nice shape. My brother has a 30 in 35 Remington which is one of the few Glenfields of either ilk that I have seen in 35 Remington.I bought a 1974 Marlin 336 30-30 in almost new condition for $250 but I think I got lucky. The bore is bright, clean and not at all pitted. The crown is clean and seems to have no APPARENT damage to the naked eye.

The scope wouldn't hold a zero, so I replaced it with a new scope. I kept the original scope as a novelty piece. Mine was a pawn shop find in Georgia in 2012.
