Browning a5 problems.
I first noticed it at the trap range in July. My gun was not locking back after shooting Browning Dove&Clay loads. Sometimes the bolt would slam back and bite the brass head of the shell in the receiver. I had bought 250 rounds of it. 225 gave me issues at the trap range or dove fields in September.

I shot probably about 300 shells through it with no issues whatsoever, but the last two times I took it to the sporting clays course it has been having feed issues. Last week, several times the bolt would not lock open after firing the last shell, and about 3 or 4 times it had an issue ... As others have told you, the gun may be dirty, need lubrication, or have the friction pieces adjusted. Usually an Auto-5 with those problems will still cycle stout hunting loads. I have a gun that was only reliable with Federal ammunition-- until a friend noticed that the left extractor was broken. It appears that the inside of the eyelet of the carrier spring is worn or the post it sits on in the trigger housing is worn, maybe a bit of both. The result is a spring that will slide off the carry assy contact point after one or two discharges. The spring wedges itself between the carrier assy and the receiver wall cavity.

Don't do it. I may catch a lot of flak for this but the Browning A5's made in the last 10-12 years have been horrible. Multiple cases of them being sent back to the factory for not cycling, Browning shipping people extractors, etc. If I'm paying damn near $2000 for a gun, it better damn well work out of the box.But in this case, with such a heavy pull, the creep actually made the trigger feel softer. This one seems to cycle fine and the problem with easily cycling from the magazine to the chamber with the latch in front of the trigger seems to be corrected.

Set the single ring down by your reciever on the mag tube. keep the wide one with the bronze bushing up by your mag tube cap. That is how you set up for light loads. Rudolph31 .30-06. You’re saying Trigger when you mean Trigger Plate, though in your case you replaced both. In the OP’s case, he’s got the new Trigger and Safety. His gun is sort of unique in that it’s got Speed Load but uses the old Carrier Spring. That only occurred 1953-57.
Keep a very light film of good gun oil on the magazine tube where these parts slide on. Make sure you fully compress the barrel into the action when tightening your magazine cap. It should be tight, if not you risk cracking the forearm. Last thing, don't try and take the gun any further apart.
