After sitting a while to cool off, it was fine on the return trip again. What i I feel is happening with mine is that crack in the turbo is opening up when things get hot enough causing a boost leak. The code P0299 is an under boost code and in most cases, this code sets due to a failing turbo providing the wastegate is opening and closing as it should. Hi I got the dreaded p0420 code, 2012 cruze lt. Replaced both o2 sensors, have reset code several times and it keeps coming back. I've read where lots of people have gotten a new car but it didnt solve the problem. I know the p0299 is probably a bad turbo. Have run cat cleaner and seafoam through it. The exhaust smells very strongly too.P0299 cracked turbo housing at 70K. My 2014 Cruze with 70k just starting losing power and hestitating. Then it started throwing the P0299 code...the CEL would go off and then come back on. After 3 days of this I ripped the front end apart to check for leaks from the air box to intake. Found none and took it to the dealership.
