This turned out to be a bad ignition coil. Replaced it, and the car runs and drives great. After about 50-100 miles of driving, it threw the P0420 code. (with a bunch of other dash lights like I read the subarus do). seems to run fine. I have an OBD2 adapter and Torque pro, and I did a few readings. One screenshot is idle, one is around 2k RPMS.
