The improved gun has a stronger milled slide, external extractor, eliminated the pinned breech block, higher mag capacity, revised frame (using a rail-less P229), stock night sights and coated internal parts. If you strip a standard p229 and an M11-a1 and place them side you will see immediately that the M11-a1 has what appears to be Stainless (not shiny) internals while the p229 has black internals. The SIG M11-A1-D is one fine firearm and fits in nicely with my other SIGs, P239 and P226. I added a Crimson Trace Laser grip and had trigger work completed. Went to qualify and first shot had an FTE with the next good round butting up against the back of the non-extracted spent round. I cleared and finished the next few rounds required no prob. I carry my M11 A1 in a Miami classic or the Crossbreed superslide OWB. I'm 6'2" and weigh 225 (ish). An untucked, unbuttoned short sleeve shirt conceals the M11 A1 fairly well, but don't expect a detective with 30 years experience (as in Terry versus Ohio) to be fooled.

M11-A1 Slide Lock. This is my first Sig P series pistol. Brand new M1-A1 purchased this past Monday. So far two trips to the range and 450 rounds through it. It functioned perfectly.
