Four curators reflect on themes presented in the exhibition, including the importance and legacy of 17th-century Dutch painting and depictions of the social classes in art. Works from across art-historical periods and museum collections will be discussed.Parking. Parking is included in your purchase. Wristbands will serve as your parking ticket and must be shown when exiting the parking garage. Accessible parking is located in the museum parking garage. After parking, enter the Bloch Building and take the elevator to the Plaza Level. Signage will lead you to the outdoor screening location.Museum Admission. The museum is a major repository of work by the Missouri artist George Caleb Bingham with paintings that illuminate life and democracy on the American frontier. When the shrine came to the museum, it was so dirty that the original paint was undetectable. Grime had become stuck to the varnish (glossy finish) covering the painted wood from years of previous use. Conservators at the Nelson-Atkins removed the varnish in order to reveal the paint. This process took more than a year!
